Our Today

An Overview of What We Do

Our primary areas of expertise are sourcing, manufacturing, and processing Medical, Biomedical and Industrial fabrics. We work through the entire process chain – from polymer selection and fibre, yarn and fabric manufacturing, all the way through to fabric finishing and conversion. Our knowledge base doesn’t end there. Our experts are also skilled in product fabrication and analysis of end-use performance.

Among our endeavours to empower and strengthen rural communities are our actions towards the growth of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME). This is done by fostering job opportunities alongside education and training facilities.

We are focused on creating awareness among rural weavers about the importance of small savings. Following this goal, TDAK provides women and the underemployed members of the community with the skills to ensure financial independence via jobs in the textile field.

Textile providers in the medical industry need to uphold cleanliness and safety standards in the materials they provide to hospitals and clinics. By ensuring that non-carcinogenic, anti-microbial, and nonallergenic products reach rural health facilities in time, we also propel our commitment towards preventive healthcare and sanitation

TDAK aims to promote natural fibres like cotton and jute at an international level, alongside sustainable production techniques that reduce water and fabric wastage. We are thus dedicated to encouraging eco-friendly innovation in this industry that touches, in one form or another, the work and lives of all individuals.

A Peep at History

How TDA Began

Textiles Development Association was started as an Education Development Programme (EDP) by Mr. A.M. Nadaf who was committed to nurturing self-dependence in the people and the industries of the rural communities of Karnataka. Mr Nadaf is native to the remote village of Itagi, Khanakpur Taluk, in Belgaum District. The difficulties of those sidelined by the mainstream production industry were something he witnessed first-hand.

He began by executing skill development programmes for school dropouts, retrenched workers, unemployed or underemployed youth, and women. His vision eventually grew to encompass vocational training via full-time and crash courses in textile institutes that promised suitable employment opportunities.

The Textile Industry

A Growing Market

The textile market is seeing a boom, and this rising growth rate and increase in consumer spending are often attributed to fashion and social media. However, the industry is far more technical, and its uses branch out in many directions, including the medical industry.

Different geographical states in India are segregated into categories of producers based on crop growth. There are producers of cotton, jute, silk, and wool, with cotton taking the lead in both demand and quality. While our mission is to promote India’s unique natural fibre products, there is a growing demand for synthetic fibres like polyester and nylon – a demand that is expected to grow manifold in the years to come.

Fibres require skilled handling, especially in pharma and healthcare. We at TDAK understand market segmentation and ensure textile access to each branch – the clothing industry, the technical industry, household appliances and, of course, the medical field.

A Commitment to the Future

Our association endeavours to empower rural artisans by preserving rural folklore art and inviting Indigenous capabilities into innovation. We take tangible steps to promote their work and their enterprises. Among the many ways to ensure MSME support are our efforts towards connecting rural weavers with government schemes that could benefit them. TDAK is also committed to employment generation for women and fostering an ecosystem for sustainable and eco-friendly production.
